Even after her untimely death, Aaliyah’s spirit is still full of life. Current artists who grew up fans of the R&B star have been itching to drop posthumous records featuring her material. Though Chris Brown and Drake have both dropped records with Aaliyah samples, Timbaland has blocked a healthy percentage of the collaborations.

Timbo and Aaliyah worked closely before she passed. Tim cites they’re unique relationship as why the records will never work.

“Chris Brown got a record, it won’t work. Drake can go do a record with Aaliyah, it aint gonna work. Aaliyah music only work with a soul mate, which is me.”

But don’t get it twisted, Timbo doesn’t have any ill will towards Drizzy. As a matter of fact, he claims to be the Young Money rapper’s daddy! Well, sort of.

“That’s why when Drake did ‘Started From The Bottom’ it was a total different sound. Then Drake told me, he said, ‘Man, I had to really battle with myself. I want to be the first person to change.’ So when he said that I was like ‘He’s gonna be around for a long time.’ So, talked to big brother Jay (Jay Z) and I was like, ‘Yo, we gotta embrace this young soldier. You gotta embrace this guy. We gotta put our hand around him.’ And we adopted Drake.”

We may never get a full after-death album from Aaliyah, but ya never know. Keep your fingers crossed!
