Check your USB charger, there is one retailer that is recalling one of the ones they sell due to a fire and shock hazard. According to News 10 ABC, there is a nationwide recall from all Target stores of their heyday three-foot lightning USB charging cables. There is a risk of shock and fire hazards with these cords. Over ninety thousand have been recalled.

They say the issue is because of the metal around the cord. This can become electrically charged if it comes in contact with the USB wall charger while charging. Check your cables. These were sold at Target stores and online from June 2018 through January 2019. They retailed for about fifteen dollars.

These USB lightning chargers are used to charge cell phones and other electronics. There have been fourteen reports of sparking, igniting and smoking of the cables. There were also two reports of fingers being burned.

If you have one of these cables, you are to stop using it and return it to Target for a full refund. For more information, you can visit the Consumer Product Safety Commission's website.
