It's the 11th annual Holiday Lighted Tractor Parade and it's your chance to be part of the (unofficial) largest one of its kind in the entire country. Deck out your tractor in holiday lights and show it off this November in Washington County.
The 10th Annual Greenwich Holiday Lighted Tractor Parade will take place this Saturday, November 19th at 6 pm through the historic village of Greenwich. It has been a tradition supported by the community since 2013 and is one of the most significant events in Washington County. It is also the country's largest parade of its kind (unofficially). Last year over 10,000 people attended to see the over 60 tractors and displays traveling through the village.
The Battenkill River runs nearly 60 miles long, originating in Vermont and emptying out into the Hudson River in New York. This time of year, the Battenkill, especially as it travels through Washington County, is one of the prettiest stretches of preeminent trout fishing territory in the country. On Thursday evening, the pristine waterway was marred by tragedy. A fisherman, now being reported from Delmar, was found dead in the river.

In a cool report compiled by the Princeton, New Jersey based Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Health Population Institute, they ranked all 62 counties in New York State in order of the healthiest to the not so healthy. The annual rankings compile data from the past several years from multiple sources, such as the National Center for Health Statistics.
In anticipation of marijuana being legal to grow in New York state, there are proposals popping up all over our area. The latest is a warehouse in Washington County that would be used as a growing and processing facility for recreational marijuana production.
