Davis Webb

Davis Webb started his collegiate career at Texas Tech University for three years, playing 10 games in his freshman season and sparingly the next two. Webb transferred to Cal to be the starter for his senior year. In 2017, he was drafted by the New York Giants in the 3rd round. Then general manager Jerry Reese thought the 6-5 Texan could possibly develop into the heir to Eli Manning's quarterback throne. As we know, that didn't work out. On Sunday, Davis Webb had the job of filling in for Daniel Jones, as the Giants rested 19 of their starting 22 players, in anticipation of next week's playoff game against Minnesota.

There are the NFL players that use training camp to "tune-up" their game. They learn the play book. They endure team contact drills for the first time months, all while enjoying their big contracts. Then there are the "other guys." These are players trying to earn or keep a spot on an NFL roster. They are trying to win a job.

Of the contestants involved in the six games this weekend, in addition to the two top teams that earned byes, none of the 14 NFL playoff participants are the New York Giants. No surprise at this point to Big Blue fans, many who went into the season with so much hope only to have it evaporate week by week. The root of the problem general manager Dave Gettleman and his young unproven Coach Joe Judge were sent packing a few days ago. However, some former Giants players are still enjoying the excitement of the postseason tournament.
