I think our local ice cream truck workers have been watching way too many episodes of “Gangland.” Sno Cone Joe himself, Joshua Malatino, let rival Mr. Ding-A-Ling know that he’s not welcome in Gloversville.

Once Malatino caught wind that Ding-A-Ling was roaming his streets, the turf war was on like donkey kong. According to reports, Malatino would yell threats at the Dina-A-Ling driver, “This is MY town!” He also would scream “Free ice cream!” to parents and children lining up for an ice cold treat.

Malatino has been charged with harassment and misdemeanor stalking. The charges could equate to a three month jail sentence if convicted of the charges. According to police, Malatino has displayed similar behavior in the past and has been warned by law enforcement.

There aren’t any laws that prohibit multiple ice cream trucks from roaming Gloversville streets. As long as they have a permit, the city is fair game.

Malatino didn’t get physical with the Ding-A-Ling driver but he was arrested for assault in an unrelated incident in 2011.
