With the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards only a day away from making its debut in Brooklyn, N.Y., Robin Thicke and Macklemore, who are both set to perform on Sunday (Aug. 25) night, wanted to give New York fans a taste of their sets with a free show at Terminal 5 last night (Aug. 23).

Working in conjunction with Time Warner Cable and MTV, the warehouse-like venue was filled with enthused music fans who were getting hyped with the spinning styles of Mayer Hawthorne.

Macklemore kicks off the show with 'Ten Thousand Hours,' which he performed with a huge grin on his face -- something we're used to seeing from the Seattle rapper. "There are some grown ass sexy women here tonight, a.k.a. Robin Thicke's fan base," Macklemore said.

Macklemore performed his hits 'Thrift Shop' and 'Can't Hold Us.' Before going into the socially conscious tune 'Same Love' featuring Mary Lambert, who was on hand to sing the chorus, he talked about how the song is more than relevant today. "I think we are in the middle of the biggest civil rights movement of our generation," he said.

After Macklemore's set and a DJ interlude by Hawthorne, Thicke took the stage. Unlike other artists, he wasted no time and jumped into 'Blurred Lines.' While everyone hoped that Pharrell Williams and T.I. would make an appearance, Thicke's three backup performers had to suffice instead. He also performed 'Take it Easy On Me,' 'Pretty Lil' Heart' and 'Dreamworld.' He also treated everyone to 'Mona Lisa,' which seamlessly transitioned into 'Everything's Gonna Be Alright' by Bob Marley, as well as 'Wanna Love You Girl.'
