As most fans probably know by now, some rap lyrics about inner-city struggles are merely used to make certain rappers look tough, while others truly bring something new to the conversation, and in a new documentary Nas praised the latter group of MCs.

The documentary is called 'Chicago Love,' which will air on Revolt TV, and the Queensbridge legend says some of the rappers in Chi-Town are doing a stellar job of bringing light to the social ills that's gripping the city.

"Chicago is speaking where other people ain't talking [and] they're talking for themselves, giving us what's going on," he stated. "If it wasn't for the rap artists, the whole country would not know the state of emergency that's going on in the hood out there. So thank God we've got rappers from Chicago enlightening the whole world about what's happening, because nobody else wants to talk about it."

Filmed during Lollapalooza weekend, the documentary, produced Rahman Dukes and Keith Clinkscales, also covers the correlation between the drill music scene, and Chicago's ongoing gun violence. In the trailer, one father is grieving for his son after he was tragically killed.

"My son was 19-years-old when he was murdered," said Tony Mccoy, Sr., at the start of the clip. "I'm just a shell of a man right now. When they killed my son, they might as well have killed me at the same time."

Revolt TV will broadcast 'Chicago Love' at various times over the holiday weekend. Check your local listings for air times.
