Jay-Z did something this past Saturday (Oct. 6) that millions of New Yorkers do everyday -- he rode the subway. Instead of parking the beamer in the arena, the rap mogul took the R train to the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Dressed in a T-shirt that featured the image of the late graffiti artist/painter Jean-Michel Basquiat, Hov -- and his burly security team -- join straphangers for a quick ride. Fans scrambled to get video and smartphone pics of the 'Run This Town' rapper while others were chanting "Brooklyn!"

The New York Daily News was able to capture photos of Jay chatting it up with a senior citizen who was delighted to see him. You see, even grannies love the BK kid.

Despite all the commotion, Jay-Z was able to exit out of the Atlantic St./Barclays Center train stop and walk into the stadium with fans eagerly following and taking pics along the way. Of course, you know the rest. Jigga performed his eighth and final show at the Barclays Center, which also included a surprise performance from his wife Beyonce.

Meanwhile, to commemorate the final night of his historic sold-out residency at the Barclays Center, Jay-Z is releasing 'Live in Brooklyn,' an eight-song optic (audio/visual) EP. The collection will be available on Oct. 9 exclusively on iTunes.
