J.I.D’s Got a New Song in Russell Westbrook’s New Jordan Brand Shoe Commercial
On New Year's Day (Jan. 1), Westbrook debuted the commercial for his brand new Why Not Zer0.2 sneakers. Throughout the ad, the Dreamville signee is heard rapping a previously unreleased verse that doesn't appear on most recent project DiCaprio 2. For the speedy 16, J.I.D establishes his confidence going into the New Year, providing a source of optimism for those in need of positivity in the process.
"I know you got a question, you looking for answers," J.I.D raps over the Christo-produced beat as the virtual Westbrook shoots hoops. "Look at the passion I possess, the pain manufactured a champion/Stamp the game, My name lasts forever/The rain is coming, The thunder's crashing/Fire breathing dungeon dragon."
Unlike his A$AP Ferg-assisted song "Westbrook," this new J.I.D track sounds like it was made strictly for Westbrook's new commercial. There's no word on when the record will be released. If the full version of the song does end up surfacing, then there's a chance it will be on J.I.D's upcoming project with No I.D. During a conversation with Beats 1 on Apple Music last month, the 2018 XXL Freshman revealed that he has a project with legendary producer in the works.
"I'm doing a lot of touring off this project, but it's a lot more stuff coming out from my side," J.I.D began. "Then, I'm doing this project with No I.D. It's cooked. It's crazy. It's like the conceptual project I was talking about. Everybody's cooked, it's amazing."
