Don’t Pay Your Tolls? New York Will Make You Pay One Way Or Another
Having spent the majority of my life in Florida, I'm well accustomed to tolls. They may be aggravating, but all-in-all, paying a buck every hour or so never really made a difference to me.
Those tolls can add up, however, especially if you're driving through them every day. It can become so inconvenient that some choose to simply not pay them. That won't hold up in New York any longer...

Play Stupid Games...
across the state of New York, there's hundreds of residents that refuse to pay a dime in tolls, and that starts to add up. A recent report from Governor Hochul's office showed that across two major operations on the thruway this year (one in summer and one in fall) around $207,000 was left unpaid.
Obviously, this is a lot of money that New York State should be receiving, but isn't. So, what do they do?

In partnership with the Thruway Authority, the State of New York conducted a series of enforcements across Albany, the Hudson Valley, and Syracuse. This involved the seizure of 170 cars, enforcement of over 1,000 parking tickets, and $38,000 in fines distributed. With this program underway, the Thruway Authority has collected a little under half of what they're owed.
The State Government has been adamant that this is just the beginning. Toll enforcement is about to get much stricter, and unpaid tolls will not be forgotten anymore. So, if you find yourself ignoring those bills in the mail, it might be time to pay them before you no longer have a car to drive through those tolls.
