Police Standoff In Upstate New York Leads To Multiple Arrests
Some people are really stubborn. You tell them to do something, and all they can offer in return is pushback to whatever you say.
This can be a major annoyance, but when this mindset comes to criminals, it can be downright terrifying. This is the basis for a police standoff, and Schenectady got a taste of it in Mid-November.

The Setup
The Schenectady standoff began at 3:45 p.m. on Sunday, November 16th. Schenectady Police received a 911 call from an individual at 797 Oregon Avenue who believed they were in danger. They stated that someone in their home had threatened them with a gun.
Once officers arrived to the premises, they immediately secured a perimeter and the caller was able to safely exit the residence. She informed officers that the person who threatened her remained in the home, alongside six other people.
The Standoff
Once the caller was confirmed to be safe, Schenectady Police Department negotiators arrived and attempted to communicate with those inside the home. After several attempts with no answer, a search warrant was requested.
Eventually, Schenectady Police Special Operations Team and New York State Police executed the warrant, which led to all occupants of the building to exit. Two handguns were found during a search of the property.
Two individuals were arrested: Donnie Ray Devane, 42, and Talitha R Slaver, 33. Combined the two racked up seven felonies and a misdemeanor. Most of these were either weapons or drug related, with assault 1st Degree and menacing 2nd Degree charges thrown in for good measure.
