First Responders Rescue Puppies from Fire

We appreciate our local first responders' hard work and dedication.  This is another shining example of how they always go above and beyond the call of duty.

A fire at 35 Glen Street in Rensselaer on Wednesday required aid from multiple departments, who were able to extinguish the fire and rescue two puppies.

Sidewinder Photography shared the video on Facebook. In it, you see the damage done to the home, and then the first responder administers aid to one of the helpless animals.

What Happened?

According to Sidewinder Photography, the Rensselaer Fire Department was dispatched to 35 Glen Street for multiple calls of a working structure fire. Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy fire on the first floor and went to work.

Additional crews were needed to battle the blaze, and while assisting, they found two puppies upstairs,

The report says that firefighters brought the two pups outside to be cared for. In the video below, a first responder uses a specialized pet oxygen mask on one of the pups, which helps with smoke inhalation or other respiratory distress.

According to Sidewinder, both puppies appeared to be okay.  No other injuries were reported, and the fire is currently under investigation.
