Update: Capital Region Spirit Halloween Is NOT Turning Into Spirit Christmas For The Holidays
Spirit Halloween was supposed to transition into a Spirit Christmas here in Albany but it looks like Scrooge will be getting his way and has cancelled spreading Christmas cheer.
Update 10/28/2024:
It upsets me to even say this but it appears that Albany was once again blown off as Spirit Christmas will not be happening. It was initially reported that Spirit Halloween would have 10 stores in the Northeast that would be converted to the Christmas theme. Not anymore.
WTEN reports that it is now 8 stores and the Colonie Center location was one of the ones that was taken off the list.
From Spirit Halloween:
Based on the initial positive reaction to our Spirit Christmas test, we have made the difficult decision to adjust the store count from 10 to 8 locations. We know that this is disappointing to the Albany community, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.
Apology not accepted. Thanks once again for showing the people of the Capital Region that we don't matter.
There are two types of people on this planet. Those who love and adore Halloween, and those who love and adore Christmas. There is no middle ground with these people because they are all in no matter what.
You likely know some of these people. Over the summer the Halloween lovers couldn't wait to run to all the Spirit Halloween locations that were opening up inside of vacant stores. I will admit that mt kids and I have been to Spirit a whole lot this year while they figure out what they want to be, and it is nice having a store dedicated to spooky season.
But what about Christmas?
I know that many of you will say that Christmas is already shoved down our throats and we don't need anything specifically dedicated to it, but I disagree. Apparently so do the folks at Spirit Halloween. Coming soon they will be changing their spooky stores into ones filled with Christmas magic.
That's right! According to Attractions Magazine the holiday spirit will be invading the Halloween spirit soon after spooky season comes to a close.
The stores will be called Spirit Christmas, and instead of a Grim Reaper the logo will have Santa on it.
Not only will these stores be filled with Christmas merchandise but they'll also be chances for kids to come and meet Santa himself at the store from November 29th-December 24th. They're offering free digital photos with the big guy as well, which I think is fantastic.
The best part of all is that Colonie Center will be one of the Spirit Halloween's that will be converting to a Spirit Christmas. No date yet for when these will be opening, but I bet it will be a quick turn around from Halloween to Christmas in those spots.
