A lot of people are excited about the selection of Gerry McNamara as the next head coach of the Siena Saints' men's basketball program.

No one, however, seems to be more excited than McNamara himself.

The long-time Syracuse assistant/associate head coach was named the 19th head coach in Saints' history on March 29, 2024. Tuesday afternoon, an introductory press conference was held at MVP Arena, which allowed McNamara to speak to the media for the first time as the team's head coach.

To put it bluntly, McNamara did not hold back when sharing his level of excitement about the opportunity, and his level of determination toward bringing championships to Loudonville.

Here were a few of my favorite clips, featuring powerful comments from Coach McNamara's press availability on Tuesday afternoon:

McNamara also sat down with Emmanuel Berbari, the voice of the Siena Saints' basketball programs, and a great friend of 104.5 The Team. Here is the video of that conversation, posted earlier on Tuesday:

To see McNamara's full comments, check out this video, posted by CBS6 Albany to their YouTube channel:

McNamara is Syracuse men's basketball's all-time career record holder for made threes (400), free throw percentage (.888), and minutes played (4,799). He also finished his high school scholastic career seventh all-time in scoring in Pennsylvania state history with 2,917 career points.

He spent the past 15 years on staff at Syracuse. He was named a full-time assistant coach under Jim Boeheim in 2011, and was elevated to associate head coach ahead of the 2023-24 season, after fellow assistant coach Adrian Autry was named the program's next head coach.

Tuesday was a historic day for the Siena Saints' men's basketball program, and hopefully, the first day in a long and successful tenure for Coach McNamara in Loudonville.
