Ian Anderson's mantle is already pretty full with awards and accolades.

A native of Rexford, New York, and a graduate of Shenendehowa High School, Anderson took Major League Baseball by storm during the COVID-shortened 2020 season. He won three of his first six starts and had a 1.95 ERA during the regular season. He's pitched to a 1.26 ERA in eight postseason starts, and won a World Series with Atlanta at 23 years of age.

Sunday, Anderson added another accolade to his collection, and made history in the process.

Shenendehowa's Ian Anderson Makes History in NYSBBHOF Induction

Atlanta Braves' right-handed pitcher Ian Anderson was named to the New York State Baseball Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2022. Anderson and his peers were honored at the Induction Dinner, held at the Hilton Hotel in Troy on Sunday, November 13th.

Anderson's dad, Bob, tweeted this photo of the family celebrating the accomplishment with Ian:

As noted by Mr. Anderson, Ian Anderson becomes the youngest member of the New York State Baseball Hall of Fame upon induction this past weekend, an incredible honor for an incredible representative of the Capital Region on a national scale.

Anderson was one of 18 nominees in the Class of 2022, a class that included the following names:

  • Pitcher Luis Tiant
  • Commentator Brian Kenny
  • Infielder Bucky Dent
  • Pitcher Bobby Ojeda
  • Tri-City ValleyCats' Team President Rick Murphy
  • and more!

Being included with this group of New York baseball legends, as well as the other nominees in the Class of 2022, is certainly an honor that will not taken lightly. Hopefully, it will be the first step in a resurgent and dominant 2023 season for Ian Anderson.

His 2022 campaign was cut short due to injury, but there is certainly still plenty of reason to be optimistic about his career in '23 and beyond.

Here's hoping this isn't the only time we're talking about Hall of Fame inductee, Ian Anderson.
