How Long Will Heat Hang Around Before First Flakes Fall in New York
When will we see the first flakes of the season in New York?
Good news for those not a fan of snow. The warmer-than-normal weather we've been having this summer will hang around into the fall season.
Accuweather meteorologists are predicting a hotter-than-normal August with dry conditions continuing in Central New York.
“We’re expecting August to be several degrees above average once again,” said Accuweather meteorologist Alex DaSilva.
Warm Fall
On the calendar, fall begins on Sunday, September 22. However, you may not know it by the weather. Temperatures are expected to stay warm for not only Central New York, but most of the country.
The seasonal transition will be slower and much later than normal this year.
"Outdoor projects and activities which you would typically see winding down during the fall season will continue well into the season for many areas," AccuWeather Long-Range Expert Paul Pastelok said.

Arrival of Snow?
What about the arrival of snow in New York?
Accuweather says it could be quite some time before the first flakes fall.
"There should not be many surprises as far as snow in October, mainly confined to the highest elevations in the West," Pastelok said.

Snow may be more possible in November but only in the Rocky Mountains, Northern Plains and the coldest spots of the Upper Midwest.
Farmer's Almanac
The Farmer's Almanac disagrees. Snow, and a lot of it, is predicted for the middle of November in the Northeast.
November 8-11: An early-season heavy snowfall is expected across the North Central states.
November 16-19: A wintry mix with up to one foot of wet snow is possible over higher elevations in the Northeast and New England states.
