For those who love to hunt in New York State, you will need a license and the NYSDEC has released the date when they go on sale.

Here in New York State, more than 700,000 residents buy a hunting license as well as more than 50,000 non-residents!

The summer is here and Independence Day has come and gone. Many of us are already looking forward to the fall and being in the woods.

According to a report from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, the sale date has been revealed.

"The 2025-26 season licenses and deer management permits will go on sale the week of August 1, 2025. New annual licenses go on sale in August each year.Hunting and Trapping licenses are valid from September 1 - August 31 annually".

Keep in mind, as of last season here in New York State, you can print out that license at home or the office as they are now on paper.

"NEW in the 2024-25 license year. All licenses, carcass tags and other items sold will be printed on plain paper".

Bucks Are Growing

The whitetail bucks in our area are already showing some significant rack growth! If you have a trail camera set up, there is a good chance that you have seen some of the monster bucks taking shape. As this article is being published, it is early July and there are still many weeks of growth coming for those racks! In fact, according to the video below, the racks are about to really start to show significant growth!

Now is the time to get a plan in place for the fall and start to sharpen those skills.
