Iggy Azalea Says Playboi Carti Speaks to Her So Badly That She’s Stopped All Direct Contact With Him
Yesterday evening (April 12), following the debut of the XXL Spring 2022 issue featuring Playboi Carti, the Australian rhymer hopped on Twitter with a series of now-deleted tweets. She seemingly replied to Playboi Carti, whom she shares her son Onyx with, stating in the interview that he takes care of many people, including Iggy Azalea herself, which she deemed laughable.
"Take care of me? Lmaooooo let’s not get carried away now," she wrote without directly naming Carti in her tweet.
Azalea's initial tweet appears to be in direct response to Playboi Carti implying that he takes financial care of her in the cover story interview from the XXL Spring 2022 issue, which hits newsstands later this month.
When asked about how fatherhood has been treating him, Playboi Carti told XXL, "I’m a father. You know what I’m saying? You know how it is having kids. I just got responsibilities. I pay a lot of bills. I take care of a lot of people. I take care of my mom. I take care of my family. I take care of my baby mom [and] I take care of my son. There’s a lot of people I take care of. So, it’s like, I gotta keep doing it."
Later in the interview, Carti added some complimentary statements about the mother of his son by saying, "Yeah, just make sure [put in] that I love my baby mother. It definitely needs to be known that [Iggy] is the best mother in the world. My son is perfect. He’s too perfect. I need to rough him up a little bit.
This morning, Iggy also responded to a fan who pointed out that Playboi Carti did say that Iggy is a great mother to their child in the interview.
"He said so many nice things and thats whag you stuck on," the presumed Carti supporter typed. To which she replied, "youve been mislead. I don’t fuck with a man I’m not even remotely on good terms with claiming he pays my bills. I pay my bills. Secondly saying nice things for an interview sounds great but in real life he talks to me like shit so badly I had to stop all direct contact."
From there, Iggy Azalea added, "His team has been calling about the interview, hoping for my silence because they know what my reaction would be. I do appreciate being called a great mom but when that’s not reflective of what he has to say in real life I’d much rather be left out of being mentioned at all."
Just a few minutes later, Iggy doubled down on the notion that she would rather not be mentioned at all by her son's father, Playboi Carti, with a final tweet to her 7.6 million followers before signing off of social media for the time being.
While Iggy's social media rants on Tuesday and Wednesday stem directly from Carti's XXL cover story, this certainly isn't the first time Azalea has taken the Atlanta rapper to task regarding their son since Onyx was born in May of 2018.
On Christmas Eve of 2020, she put Carti on blast with claims that not only accuse him of cheating during their relationship, but she also said that he skipped out on celebrating Christmas with his son that year.
