Before the 2019 XXL Freshman class will be revealed this summer, the Freshman hopefuls are here to show and prove why they deserve a spot in this year’s class. The 10th Spot voting will launch on March 25, which means hip-hop's rising newcomers are vying for a spot on the 2019 XXL Freshman cover.

Icy Narco is one of the latest in a long line of rappers breaking out of the South Florida rap scene. The 20-year-old Miami artist started making noise in 2017, with the SoundCloud tracks “You” and “Viagra Niagra.” The banger “#RonnyJKilledThis,” released last January, would catapult him into the underground spotlight after gaining over 2 million streams via the streaming service. Follow-up tracks “Legend,” with Jimmy Duval, the beat maker behind the late XXXTentacion’s breakout single, “Look at Me!,” “Link” and “Numb and Frozen” would garner even more attention for the genre-bending rhymer.

10K Projects exec Elliot Grainge signed Narco to his label in 2018, adding him to a roster that includes Trippie Redd and 6ix9ine. Icy’s debut album, Frozen Fable, is currently being prepped and will feature production from Ronny J, Southside, Scott Storch and more. Cold world.
