Drake's father's mustache trending on Twitter, the use of pirate ships and Snoop from 'The Wire' making a sudden appearance should clue you in on just how unique hip-hop videos were in 2013. Ten rappers compete for The BoomBox Fan Choice Award for Hip-Hop Video of the Year, but only one can earn the coveted honor.

The OVO leader's dad makes an appearance in his mustachioed glory in the visual for 'Worst Behavior,' shot in Memphis, Tenn. Even worse behavior was found in Remy Banks'  'GLDCHN' effort, in which an overweight dude pretty much becomes a gold chain-wearing jerk when the beat drops.

Even the hip-hop trope of decadence was done creatively in some of this year's videos. Dancehall legend Shabba Ranks and Snoop make an appearance at an epic house party in A$AP Ferg's 'Shabba.' The more left-field interpretations include Iggy Azalea's 'Showgirls'-referencing 'Change Your Life' and Macklemore partying on a pirate ship in the 'Can't Hold Us' video. Jay Z evolved from the party guy on a yacht in 'Big Pimpin' to performance artist in 'Picasso Baby.'

2013 also had its share of solid conscious videos. J. Cole pays tribute to Aiyana Stanley-Jones, a 7-year-old shot and killed during a police raid of her brother's house in 'Crooked Smile.' Kendrick Lamar dropped another impressive visual with 'Poetic Justice,' in which a tale of love and violence unfolds.

Eminem's Beastie Boys-referencing 'Berzerk' and Tyler, the Creator's dollhouse nightmare of 'IFHY' round out the list.
