We learned something new this week. People are still buying albums! Taylor Swift shot up the charts, going platinum in less than a week with her album, “Red”. She was the only artist to finish ahead of Kendrick Lamar’s project, “good kid, m.A.A.d. city”, which sold nearly 250,000 copies.

Kendrick wasn’t the only hip hopper who charted this week. The soundtrack for RZA’s directorial debut, “The Man With The Iron Fist”, landed in the top 20. The Wu member collected big names for the album, including Kanye West, former Wu members like Ghostface, Wiz Khalifa, Pharoahe Monch and M.O.P.

Some other notable names that ended up on the hip hop top 50 included:

2 Chainz – Based On A T.R.U. Story – 12,000 this week – 354,000 total

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis – The Heist – 11,000 this week – 108,000 total
