French Montana and ASAP Rocky Have a New Collaboration in the Works
Fresh off dropping his Jungle Rules album, French Montana stops by XXL to give an update on some other projects. One of them is his forthcoming film Respect the Shooter while the other is a collaboration with A$AP Rocky.
The first thing French discusses is his working relationship with Rocky, which has existed for quite a while now—possibly even longer than anyone originally thought.
"Me and A$AP [Rocky] like brothers, you know, we grew up from close to each other," the Bronx native tells XXL. "He was from Harlem, I was from the Bronx. I was around the same street where his older brother used to be at, so that's kinda dope. Shout out to them, R.I.P. Yams, shout out the whole team."
He also reveals there's something new to look forward to as far as a collab from the two, though he keeps mum about whether it's a song or a project. "Me and A$AP Rocky working on something that we're gonna announce real soon," French shares.
Next French touches on the Spiff TV-directed film Respect the Shooter, which he initially discussed with us last year during his XXL digital cover story. He plans to release the film at either the end of this year or the beginning of 2018. According to the "Unforgettable" rhymer, it's a movie in the same vein as another hood classic.
"Respect the Shooter is almost like Belly on steroids," French explains. "Just a bunch of kids out here trying to get some money, you know and having to leave the hood. Regular things that a lot of people can relate to. It's a lot of people in it. Michael K. Williams. Chris Brown, Fabolous, myself. Snoop from The Wire."
Sounds dope. Watch French touch on his upcoming projects below.
