We are experiencing an extremely dangerous heat index this weekend and to make sure communities can keep cool, a lot of cities and towns are extending pool hours and adding cooling stations. According to CBS 6, many cities and towns around the Capital Region are trying to accommodate the extreme heat that we have this weekend.

In Clifton Park, the Senior Community Center will have extra hours and be open to residents Saturday, July 20th from 11am until 7pm.

Cohoes is making sure they have a cooling station available at the Cohoes Senior Center from today (Friday, July 19th) through Sunday, July 21st. They are also extending the Lansing Pool hours. The hours will be 11am until 8pm starting today (Friday, July 19th) through Sunday, July 21st. If you aren't a resident of Cohoes, you must pay $5 to use the pool.

In Rensselaer, the North End Fire station will be open as a cooling station today (Friday, July 19th) through Sunday, July 21st from 9am until 9pm. Water will be available at the firehouse. Plus, the Rensselaer Sprinkler Park will be open Saturday and Sunday from 11am until 6pm.

Remember to check on elderly neighbors and make sure you stay hydrated during the extreme heat. Also, keep pets indoors to keep them cool too.
