FORTY BUCKS. SHE GOT CHARGED 40 EXTRA DOLLARS FOR CRYING.

It already can be confusing when you go to the doctor's office how much it is actually going to cost. It all depends what you have done, but can a doctor in New York State charge you for crying in the doctor's office?

One woman in New York State got a little bit of a shock that left her annoyed and offended. The unnamed woman went to go to the doctors after she struggled to find one, and when she cried inside the office, the doctor CHARGED HER MONEY FOR CRYING. As if it was a service that he had to endure or provide.

Come on.

That's an absolute joke and I would drop that doctor on the spot.

She posted the list of charges that she got from the doctor and/or the insurance company and on the list, you can see that she was getting blood work, so if there were some tears, it wouldn't be THAT usual or over-the-top. I guess we don't know exactly how much she cried or how long it took, but either way it seems like an insensitive move by the office.

Also, why is the charge for the blood drawn less than the emotional breakdown charge? Something doesn't seem right here.

Is this legal in New York State? Well, yes. It is, but it might have been confusing to what she was ACTUALLY charged with: According to the New York Post:

A brief emotional/behavioral assessment is a mental health screening that tests for signs of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), depression, anxiety, suicidal risk or substance abuse,” the Post wrote. “It is usually issued as a questionnaire that is often handed out and filled in before seeing the doctor.
