NBC’s “Community” has an enormous following of loyal fans. One of the most popular characters on the show is Troy Barnes, played by Donald Glover. Glover isn’t a one dimensional entertainer. Tina Fey gave him his start as one of the writers for 30 Rock, so he has that going for him. He also trots the globe as a comedian as well as a rapper under the name Childish Gambino.

Community fans were astonished to hear the news that Glover’s character will only be appearing in a hand full of episodes in the show’s upcoming 5th season. He made the best out of the situation, sharing on social media that his new schedule would allow him to focus more on his music. That doesn’t seem to be the case anymore, though. He got a new gig as writer, executive producer and star of a new half-hour comedy called “Atlanta” that will air on FX.

The show’s story will involve the ATL music scene in some form or fashion. Although a new album hasn’t officially been announced, Gambino assembles new tracks whenever he has free time. We’ll let you know if and when he confirms a new project.
