Despite the opinions of some naysayers, Cardi B is proving she will continuously secure the bag. The Bronx native is set to perform at this year’s American Music Awards alongside J Balvin and Bad Bunny for her Billboard Hot 100 hit, “I Like It,” which climbed to the No. 1 spot in July. People confirmed the news Wednesday (Sept. 26).

This will be the Invasion of Privacy artist’s first televised performance since giving birth to her daughter, Kulture, in July—she graced the stage at the MTV Video Music Awards this summer to present an award but not perform. Cardi is nominated for American Music Awards in categories for Best New Artist, Best Pop/Rock Female Artist, Best Collaboration for “Finesse,” Best Rap/Hip-Hop Song for “Bodak Yellow,” Best Soul/R&B song for “Finesse,” Social Artist and Video of the Year for “Bodak Yellow.”

Cardi joins the likes of performers Post Malone, Ty Dolla $ign, Mariah Carey and Khalid, among others.

The New York rapper, who recently celebrated her one-year wedding anniversary with rapper Offset, is rumored to be performing at the Super Bowl next year during Maroon 5’s headlining set. Maroon 5 and Cardi collaborated together on the chart-topping track “Girls Like You” so it would only make sense that Cardi is brought out to perform one way or another. The song recently hit the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, making Cardi B the first female rapper to have three songs top the Billboard Hot 100 following "I Like It" and "Bodak Yellow."

All these opportunities are being presented to the “Bartier Cardi” rapper despite her beef with Nicki Minaj. During New York Fashion Week, at a Harper Bazaar’s Icon Party, the two rappers were caught in a heated exchange. Cardi claimed Minaj liked a negative social media comment regarding Cardi and Offset's daughter Kulture. "Like some shit about my daughter again," Cardi can be heard yelling in the video from the event.

Recently, Cardi explained on her Instagram live that she is still living her best life and not losing the support of her fans.  “A lot of people were doing rumors that a couple of celebrities unfollowed me and that was not even true," she said. "Those celebrities weren't even following me. Why can't y'all just stop making rumors to try and make me look like I'm over and everything? Just relax, enjoy the show.”

Be sure to tune into the American Music Awards on Oct. 9 at 8 p.m EST to see Cardi’s performance on ABC.—Dayna Haffenden
