Say it ain't so Buffalo! According to a report by ESPN Senior Writer, Seth Wickersham, quoting an unnamed Buffalo Bills ownership source, said, "an ownership source tells me that Austin is a possible destination—or threat—as one of the “other cities elsewhere that desire an NFL franchise and would pay handsomely for it.” That is not good news for Buffalo Bills fans as they prepare for their team to compete for a Super Bowl Championship this season.

However, all is not lost. In today's political arena, especially where $1.5 billion is involved, there will be posturing on both sides. According to an article in the New York Post by David Lazaar, "Austin City Council members have reportedly not been approached by the Bills organization at this point, according to American-Statesman reporter Ryan Autullo."

Lazar went on to say, "San Antonio was a potential destination for the Raiders a few years ago when they were planning a move, but the Cowboys and Texans were not happy with a third team coming to the area. The Raiders eventually relocated to Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas after the franchise could not reach an agreement to remain in Oakland."

Right now the Bills’ organization is really negotiating with the state of New York and Erie County. Pegula Sports and Entertainment, who owns the Bills, made a $1.5 billion proposal for the new stadium in addition to renovations being made to the KeyBank Center – home of the Buffalo Sabres and Buffalo Bandits (NLL). The Pegula family is asking that all of this be paid with taxpayer money. That is not sitting too well with local residents.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has stated that he is committed to keeping the Bills in Buffalo. There is a lot of money and fan support riding on that commitment.
