This shouldn’t be a complete shocker. Beyonce and Jay Z have been crowned two of the most powerful people in the music industry. The influential couple are No. 1 on Billboard’s 2014 Power 100 list.

The tally is comprised of movers and shakers in the business who have the ability to reshape the world through their influence and leverage.

In 2013, Jay and Bey successfully did that with their respective albums. Hov partnered with Samsung to give away 1 million free copies of his album, 'Magna Carta...Holy Grail' last summer. Meanwhile, Queen Bey dropped her self-titled album in December without any advance promotion and sold 1 million copies in its first week alone through iTunes.

"Artists have always had the power but courage is in short supply. It's just that the hip-hop generation believes in the possibilities," says Lyor Cohen, a longtime business associate of Jay Z and former executive at Def Jam. "Jay and Beyonce don't listen to the noise -- they make the noise."

And that’s what it’s about in the music biz -- making noise.

Beyonce and Jay Z’s game-changing achievements have made record labels rethink their business models when it comes to promoting music. Companies are now integrating social media into their plans as well as engaging in non-traditional partnerships.

"The dynamic of social media moving the needle is now at the center of any smart campaign," said Tom Corson who is the president/COO of RCA Records, home to Kid Ink and A$AP Rocky.

Other power players on the Power 100 list include Interscope Records honcho Jimmy Iovine at No. 10, Justin Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun at No. 33, Cash Money Records executives Birdman and Slim at No. 50, and 'X Factor' judge L.A. Reid at No. 56.

The Billboard Power 100 magazine -- with Jayonce on the cover -- is on newsstands now.
