Two separate incidents led to the arrest of a local man. During one of the incidents, a Muslim man was chased and threatened with a gun.

On Tuesday, a Muslim man was attacked and threatened just for being Muslim.

According to News 10, a man walked into their South Station to report that he was threatened with a gun. Officers say that around 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, an unidentified man walked into the station and said that he was in a store in the vicinity of Clinton Avenue and Lark Street. He says that a man walked up to him with a gun and threatened to kill him just because he was a Muslim.

Around 10:30 p.m. on the same night, another unusual incident occurred. Officers say that they responded to a call at a store in the vicinity of Lexington Avenue and Sherman Street.

A store employee reported that a man threatened him with a rifle. The man not only showed him the gun, he pointed the gun at him and chased him around in the store.

Police investigated the incident and they were able to arrest a suspect. Officers say that around 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday they arrested 35-year old James Davis in the vicinity of Dove and Hamilton streets.

When officers arrested the Albany resident, he was carrying a loaded Sig M400 rifle that was concealed in his coat. Officers were also able to confiscate two other guns during the arrest.

James Davis was charged with second-degree Aggravated Assault, second-degree Menacing, fourth-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon, and he was cited for having an unregistered loaded rifle.

You never know who’s carrying a weapon or what their mental state may be. We must always be aware of our surroundings and be careful when approaching strangers.
