Make no mistake—money always talks for 50 Cent. With the classic rapper pose of the money phone a topic of conversation lately, Fif hopped on Instagram to let everyone know who really started the trend of chatting on stacks of cash.

"Just so you know where the Money to the ear thing came from. The Original TMT," the Queens rapper captioned a throwback pic of himself and boxer Floyd "Money" Mayweather earlier today (July 6). The photo shows both 50 and Floyd smiling while they hold stacks to their ears.

The topic of rappers using cash as cell phones has come into contention recently thanks to JAY-Z's lyrics on his latest album 4:44. On the song "The Story of O.J.," Jigga Man clowns rappers who talk on the money phone.

"Y'all on the 'gram holdin' money to your ear/There's a disconnect, we don't call that money over here," raps Hov in the second verse of the track.

Since the song dropped, rappers like Future and Blac Youngsta have continued to use their money phones on social media. Boosie BadAzz even posted a video saying rappers will continue to use the money phone no matter what Jay says.

“In Louisiana, [JAY-Z’s] words don’t fly,” Boosie said in a video. “If you’re trying to get JAY-Z money, you shouldn’t put stacks to your ear. JAY-Z don’t tell me what to do. I don’t know about ya but he doesn’t tell me what to do.”
