Healthy food options will be more accessible to the Capital Region in the future. High-end supermarket chain, “Whole Foods Market” has announced they are opening a store in Albany.

The supermarket buzz has been at an all time high with openings of Shop Rite stores. In addition to the new kid on the block, Price Chopper and Hannaford - Whole Foods will compete with another healthier market option in Trader Joe’s. Joe’s will open their first location on Wolf Road.

The Albany location for Whole Foods has yet to be announced but I’m sure they’ll see as much traffic as the recent opening of Shop Rite on Central Ave.

The store sells “minimally processed” foods that are free of hydrogenated fats as well as artificial flavors, colors, sweeteners, preservatives and other ingredients listed on their “Unacceptable Food Ingredients” list. In other words, they sell foods that get you less fat.

The slogan for Whole Foods Market is “selling the highest quality natural and organic products”. Visit their site to learn more before they open in a neighborhood near you!
