Maybach Music Group rapper Wale won the first award of his career at the 2012 BET Awards Sunday (July 1) in Los Angeles. The rhyme-spitter won the Best Collaboration trophy along with Miguel for the chart-topping hit ‘Lotus Flower Bomb.’

A joyous Wale ran down the aisle, gave a pound to Kanye West who was sitting in the front row, and ran up the stage to accept his star trophy.

During his acceptance speech, Wale thanked his fans and the late go-go music icon Chuck Brown. “I want to thank my management Roc Nation, my label Maybach Music Group, all the program directors,” he said. “Rest in peace Chuck Brown. There wouldn’t be a Maybach Music or Wale without him.”

Miguel followed, “I just have to say thank you to Wale for putting me on and thanks to all the fans for giving the song a chance. A shout-out to BET for having us.”

Congrats to Wale and Miguel on their big win!
