Vince Staples found himself trending on Twitter recently after a viral video surfaced of a Christian mother reacting unfavorably to his “Norf Norf” song.

If you haven’t seen it (watch above), the unnamed woman is crying uncontrollably as she recites the lyrics to Staples’ song. Apparently, while she was dropping her kids off school, she heard the song on her car radio and freaked out. The woman found the lyrics shocking and couldn’t believe that the song is getting airplay on mainstream radio.

Folks on Twitter have criticized the woman for overreacting and not understanding Staples' point of view about the harsh realities of living in Long Beach, Calif.

"Need that white Christian mom who cried reading Vince Staples lyrics to review every [hip hop] song. I'd pay $ to see her listen to 21 Savage," tweeted one person.

Staples himself responded to the video in question after being misquoted in The Independent. He urged his fans not to teased the woman who clearly didn't get the gist of his lyrical content.

"What I was saying was that the woman in that video is clearly confused on the context of the song which causes her to be frightened," he tweeted. "She also, in my opinion, seems to be emotionally unstable. With both those things being said, she has a right to her opinion."

No person needs to be attacked for their opinion on what they see to be appropriate for their children," he continued. "They have a right to it. This misunderstanding of our community leads to miscommunication which we should convert into a progressive dialogue."

What do you think? Is the Christian woman all in her feelings or does she have a legitimate concern? Tell us in the comments below.
