A typical day turned frightening for students at the UCLA campus on Wednesday morning (June 1). A man opened fired in an UCLA engineering building, causing the entire university to go on lockdown.

According to the Los Angeles Times, two men are dead in an apparent murder-suicide. LAPD Chief Charlie Beck confirmed that the shooter was one of the victims killed in the engineering complex. The campus reopened shortly after noon and classes were canceled for the rest of the day.

Police have yet to confirm the identity of the victims and a motive was not clear. However, a note and the gun was found at the scene. A source to the LA Times that police believed that a professor was shot by someone young enough to be a student, who then turned the gun on himself.
