Are you ready for some UAlbany Football??? The Great Danes’ home opener at their new stadium named after their coach (who’s in his final season), Bob Ford, is on Saturday at 7pm under the lights.

The team features several home-grown talents this year:

Ryan Smith (Guilderland) – Sophomore QB

Zach Morton (Burnt Hills) – Junior DE

JP McCauley (Queensbury) – Freshman OT

Prosper Mbonque-Muna (Albany Academy) – Senior OLB

Kenny Mathieu (Columbia) – Freshman CB

Jonathan Martin (Bethlehem) – Freshman P

Mike LaNoir (Glens Falls) – Freshman FB

Nic Ketter (Queensbury) – Freshman FB

Nate Hatalsky (Mechanicville) – Freshman ILB

Ryan Griffin (Shaker) – Freshman ILB

Matthew Campion (Stillwater) – Freshman OT

The Danes were on the road for their first two match-ups. They dropped their season opener against Duquesne but bounced back with a victory last Saturday against Colgate. They’ll be squaring off against Rhode Island this weekend. If you can’t make it out to the game, you can catch it on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel.
