2012: The hip-hop titan that is Kanye West won his eighteenth Grammy Award on Feb. 12, 2012 when his 2010 album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, took home the golden gramophone for Best Rap Album at the 54th annual awards show.

Released in November of 2010, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, or MBDTF for short, was a time mark in his career after taking a break from music. Kanye channeled heartbreak and adversity into a masterful 13 tracks and gave hip-hop hits like "Power" "Monster" and "Runaway" as well as fan-favorite deep cuts like "Blame Game" and "Lost in the World." MBDTF debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and sold 496,000 copies in the US alone its first week, making it certified platinum by the RIAA. The album received such high accolades from fans and critics that it is regarded as one of 'Ye's most successful releases to date.

'Ye was actually nominated twice in the same category that night, having dropped the collaborative album Watch The Throne with Jay Z that same year. Kanye's MBDTF beat out Watch The Throne, Lil Wayne's Tha Carter IV, Lupe Fiasco's Lasers and Nicki Minaj's Pink Friday to claim the top spot. And that wasn't the only award Yeezy walked away with that night. He also won in the category of Best Rap Performance for "Otis" (featuring Jay Z), Best Rap Song and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for "All of the Lights."

Congrats to 'Ye!
