Timbaland Refused to Perform at Flint Benefit

Timbaland is facing some criticism after the superproducer allegedly refused to perform at a benefit show in Detroit to assist victims of the Flint water crisis.

The incident occurred Thursday at the Bleu nightclub in Detroit. Timbo apparently was ticked after he was given Dom Perignon after requesting two bottles of Armand de Brignac Ace of Spades champagne, which the venue does not serve. Mitchell Jaworski is Bleu co-owner and he told the New York Daily News that Timbaland and his entourage still enjoyed more drinks.

"They had about 15 bottles of liquor and champagne, which is extremely excessive especially for a charity event,” Jaworski says. “They seemed more concerned about getting every drop of liquor.”

The night was a part of Timbaland's "King Stays King" Tour. He'd tweeted about the event previously. "Detroit come out tonight and help me support the#FlintWaterCrisis #givingback#KingStaysKing #TextbookTimbo," Tim had tweeted earlier in the week.

Hired to deejay a 30-minute set and perform five-to-eight songs, Timbaland took the stage around 1am but only nodded his head to the music as another deejay handled the music. It's been reported that similar incidents occurred at other stops on the tour.

The event did, however, raise $3,000 for water and fiters for Flint as the city struggles with a poisoned water supply. Hip-hop stars like Game, Big Sean Meek Mill and Diddy have also made donations and raised money to assist the people of Flint.
