Are you better off teaching in New York than any other state?

New York is one of the states that pay its teachers the highest salaries in the nation. For anyone who has ever dreamed of becoming a teacher, look to teach in our backyard in New York. USA facts and US News & World Report state that New York teachers' average salary is $76,680 – the highest in the United States.

There is a new program that is aiming to create more teachers here in the Capital Region. It focuses on actual in-classroom student teaching for a more on-the-job learning approach. It is called Classroom Academy and it is an apprenticeship program created by the New York State United Teachers, local school districts, colleges, and Washington-Saratoga-Warren-Hamilton-Essex BOCES.
