On Tuesday night (Dec. 12), first-time Democratic candidate Doug Jones pulled out a surprising victory over former Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore in Alabama’s special elections. Jones’ win marked the first time since 1990 that a Democrat prevailed in a Senate race in the Yellowhammer State.

Jones grabbed 49.9 percent of the vote over Moore's 48.4 percent in the typically deep red state. During the campaign, nine women accused Moore of sexual misconduct and some of the victims were in their mid-teens at the time of Moore’s advances. Moore tried to brush off the allegations calling the reports “fake news” and suggest that some of the women were opportunistic liars. But in the end, Moore couldn't escape the allegations of being a sexual predator.

Throughout the night, all eyes were on the polling numbers as they were rolling in. After it was confirmed that Jones won the election, rappers and singers (and conscious Americans) breathed a sigh of relief and thanked the people of Alabama for making history.

"Proud of my neighbors in Ala. Power to the People!!!! Right on to the Real. #USorELSE" tweeted T.I., while John Legend wrote, "Thank you Alabama."

But Killer Mike had the best response to Doug Jones' victory in Alabama. The rapper went on his Instagram page and posted a photo of Alabama native Charles Barkley with the headline: "Jones win means Dems need to get off their asses and help black people."

"IDGAF where the truth come from, truth is truth. Thanks Charles!" Mike wrote in the caption.
