MTV host Sway Calloway is speaking out about Kanye West's criticisms of MTV's Hottest MCs List and allegations that the rapper gave him his old TV years ago.
Tuesday night, West made a call to Hot 97's Angie Martinez Show to express his anger over his No. 7 position on the list. Before he hung up the phone, the 'Cruel Summer' creator made sure he ended the conversation with some memorable words. “I didn’t really want to call to talk about the [Hottest MC] list, I just want to tell everybody, I gave Sway his first TV,” he shared. “And he needs to remember that.”

On his Sway in the Morning radio show, the journalist was taken aback by West's statement. "I can't believe he brought that to surface," Sway said.

Sway explained that the list comes from a plethora of criteria and decisions made by MTV employees. While Sway is largely associated with the Hottest MCs list and is a face people recognize, he did not vote on which rappers were included. Due to the fact that he's been instrumental in several rappers' careers, including Ye, Sway revealed that's why he abstains from voting. "I know when I vote, people get really emotional... it's delicate," he admitted.

Yeezy slammed the list. “For me, I feel like in order for them to put me [at No. 7] they had to bring up things that they didn’t like," he said. "They didn’t like the ‘Cruel Summer’ album. I’m like, that’s a compilation it ain’t all rappers on G.O.O.D. Music. I mean ‘Cruel Summer’ got the ‘Don’t Like’ remix, ‘Mercy,’ ‘Cold,’ ‘New God Flow,’ you know. And ‘Clique’! You can’t name five records like that on any album.

"They don’t like Givenchy Kanye. They don’t like Kanye in a kilt. They don’t like Kanye in a relationship.”
