“Have you ever noticed how in Hollywood movies, all the villains are played by Brits?”

That's what Sir Ben Kingsley intones at the start of a very clever new commercial, which tries to sell Jaguar cars by reminding us that Hollywood bad guys are often just as cool as the good guys. Then again, the ad also stacks the deck a bit: it's hard to not look cool when you're driving a sports car while dressed the nines ... and it's impossible to not look cool when you're Sir Ben Kingsley, Mark Strong or Tom Hiddleston.

Directed by Oscar winner Tom Hooper (of 'The King's Speech' and 'Les Miserables' fame), this expensive Super Bowl commercial does what every modern Super Bowl commercial does: it's premiering online first. You could wait and watch it during the game, but that would be sooo 2004.

The ad takes an effortlessly cool trio of British actors known for playing villainous types, dresses them well, puts them in situations where they can't help but look badass and let them sell Jaguar cars to you. As far as advertising goes, it's definitely clever and eye-catching. After all, it's not every day that you get to see the Mandarin, Loki and Sinestro in the same 60 second block.

The commercial's basic message seems to be "British bad guys are super confident and awesome and if you drive a Jaguar car you could become their equal." It's a little weird to see a company throw down its lot with the villains, but we've got to hand it to them: we wouldn't be opposed to wearing suits and driving through London while laughing maniacally.
