Sir Mix-a-Lot Performs ‘Baby Got Back’ With Seattle Symphony [VIDEO]

Sir Mix-a-Lot's classic booty anthem 'Baby Got Back' has become a guilty pleasure for ladies to shake their butts when the beat drops. But over the weekend, the song received a classical touch thanks to the Seattle Symphony.

As part of the repertoire's "Sonic Evolution" series, which celebrates music from a wide range of genres, the Seattle rhymer performed the song with a full-scale orchestra complete with an "acoustic scratcher" (made by scratching a credit card against a metal guiro) and a "jackdaw" (a friction drum that makes frog noises).

"Something you really should not do, but since tonight is orchestral movements from the hood night, I'm going to leave some of this open if a couple of ladies would like to get up on the stage," Sir Mix-a-Lot told the crowd.

Within seconds, a slew of women join the rapper onstage and a did a chorus line of twerking while he performs the song.

Gabriel Prokofiev, a London-based composer, DJ and producer, orchestrated this performance, which also included a rendition of the rapper's 1988 banger, 'Posse on Broadway.'

"My aim with this new Sir-Mix-a-Lot inspired orchestral work was to really get inside the musical mind of Sir Mix-a-Lot; to understand how his rhythms, textures, sounds and harmonies worked, and to create a contemporary orchestral composition that was true to the music of Sir-Mix-a-Lot," he wrote on his blog.
