The U.S. Capitol was on lockdown Thursday afternoon after shots were reportedly fired in the area, according to CNN.

CNN reported that U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid confirmed at least one person injured in the alleged shooting.

Police were in the area and orders were given via loudspeaker for everyone to shelter in place due to an active shooter situation. Multiple shots were heard near the Senate Hart Office Building and CNN reported people running.
