Pro golfer, Sergio Garcia, has been playing pretty solid lately. His game has been up and down over the years, but he was looking like an early favorite in The Players Championship a few weeks ago. On one of the days (golf tournaments are 4 days), he was paired up with his arch rival, Tiger Woods. The two were open and honest about not liking each other.

The Spain native blamed Tiger for crowd noise during one of his shots. The distraction was legit, but the reasoning was ridiculous. The crowd erupted once Tiger pulled a 5 wood out of the bag, indicating to the audience that he was going to smack the living hell out of his next shot. Tiger doesn’t control the crowd. He barely acknowledges them.

The words continued with Sergio describing Woods as “not the nicest guy on tour.” Tiger responded to the comments, saying reconciliation would never happen. Tiger went on to win the tournament after several of Garcia’s shots landed in the water on the final 2 holes of the last round.

The wound was still fresh in Sergio’s mind as he attended an awards dinner for the European Tour. When asked if he would ever invite Tiger over for dinner he responded with, “We will serve fried chicken.”

Sergio immediately released a statement once word got out. “I apologize for any offense that may have been caused by my comment on stage during The European Tour Players’ Awards dinner. I answered a question that was clearly made towards me as a joke with a silly remark, but in no way was the comment meant in a racist manner.”
