A Schoharie County woman was arrested after police found 99 caged cats in her home. They also found 67 dead cats bagged up in her freezer. The woman, Irene VanDyke, is facing multiple charges including cruelty to animals.

The cats have been taken from the woman’s home and are being nursed back to health. If you or someone you know can provide the furry friends with a caring, loving home, they are available for adaption at the Animal Shelter of Schoharie Valley. They can be reached by phone at 296-8390.

The cats were discovered when neighbors called to complain about a waste-like stench coming from the home. VanDyke will be back in court next month.
