I can't even believe I am writing about this, where did this year go?! But! The 46th annual Schenectady holiday parade is here folks: this Saturday! This brings back so many memories for me!

I grew up in Schenectady up until the 10th grade when we moved far, far away to a very far away land called Rotterdam. Ok, Ok, not far at all-only a whole five minutes! Ha ha!

But, one of the many traditions I remember as a child growing up in Schenectady was going to the then-called Schenectady Christmas parade every single year as a kid. It was originally on Black Friday back in the day if you Schenectadians remember correctly! Yes, right, mm hmm, they switched it.

I remember dancing in this parade, marching in it and being a spectator on the side begging my mom to buy me one of those stupid balloon toys that the vendors would wheel up and down State Street. I also remember freezing my tootsies off, enjoying all of the sights and sounds of the parade going down in downtown Schenectady.

Oh, the good ol days!! So glad that this tradition still carries on and I hope you all get to enjoy the parade this Saturday as you kick off your Holiday season 2013 on the right foot. Who knows, maybe I will see you there and take a stroll down memory lane.

The parade blasts off at 5 p.m. this Saturday, (Nov. 23) at Schenectady County Community College. The parade will follow a route along State Street, continuing left down Lafayette Street and end at the corner of Lafayette and Franklin Street.
