A determined rapper won a settlement from the NYPD after he was forced to spit a rhyme while he was unjustly handcuffed by police.

It was in November 2013, when Quinshon Shingles, whose rap name is Sauce da Boss, claims that police raided his apartment in Brooklyn, N.Y., without a warrant to question another man. After the cops handcuffed Shingles, they ordered him to "spit some bars" for his freedom. The 27-year-old rhymer rapped a few lines for the police but felt humiliated in the process.

In Shingles’ federal lawsuit, David Grieco and Joseph Patton are identified as the two police officers who allegedly requested Shingles to perform the humiliating act.

According to New York Daily News, Shingles won $7,500 in a settlement, while the apartment’s tenant accepted a $4,000 judgment.

The city admitted no wrongdoing in the settlement.
