Rappers and Celebrities React to Death of Carrie Fisher

The year 2016 continues to show no mercy when it comes to our beloved icons. Veteran Hollywood actress Carrie Fisher has died after suffering a heart attack on a flight from London. She was 60.

Fisher’s daughter, Billie Lourd, confirmed the sad news (via a family rep) to PEOPLE. She writes:

“She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.”

Last Friday (Dec. 23), Fisher was traveling from London to Los Angeles when she went into cardiac arrest. Paramedics performed life-saving CPR before removing her from the flight and was taken to a nearby hospital. Doctors were able to stabilize her but she later died.

Fisher was born into Hollywood royalty; her parents are entertainment veterans Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher. She was a prolific actress in Hollywood, having appeared in over two dozen films. But she will most likely be remembered for her iconic role of Princess Leia in 1977 film Star Wars. She was only 19 years old when the first installment of the beloved sci-fi franchise was made. Fisher would subsequently reprise that role throughout the popular Star Wars franchise including her last film appearance in 2015's The Force Awakens.

In the 1980s, Fisher appeared in several box office hits, including The Blues Brothers, Hannah and Her Sisters, When Harry Met Sally... and The Burbs, among other films.

Fisher leaves behind her mom Reynolds, daughter Lourd and beloved French bulldog, Gary, to mourn for her. We want to send our heartfelt condolences to the Fisher family. May she rest in peace.
