R. Kelly's personal life is coming to the forefront once again. The singer's 13-year-old child has taken to social media to announce that he's transgender.

Born Jaya Kelly, the teen is now referred to as "Jay." He revealed the news of his transgender identity on his Ask.fm page. "How does your dad feel about you being transgender?" asked one fan. "I don't know," responded Jay. He then added a message of self-love and acceptance. "Be who you want to be, only god can judge you! No one else can tell you who YOU are! Proud of you for being who you are! You great!"

He also describes himself as a "transguy" on his Instragam bio.

Although R. Kelly has not openly spoke about his transgender son (he apparently learned of his "coming out" just three months ago), his ex-wife, Andrea, shared the news on her reality show 'Hollywood Exes.' Jay says his mom and sister have accepted him for who he is. “She was very proud of me. I was like, ‘Thank you, Mum, for accepting the fact that I’m a transgender.’ And same with my sister, she told me that she was proud of me and respects me by calling me handsome and calling me her little brother now, and I love her for that."

Jay has apparently identified as a boy since he was 6 or 7 years old, according to his Ask.fm page.
