R. Kelly Responds to Shocking Village Voice Story About Sexual Abuse
The internet is abuzz after the release of a shocking new interview in the Village Voice about R. Kelly's history of allegedly abusing minors. Now, the singer is responding to the claims.
Dubbed 'Read the 'Stomach-Churning' Sexual Assault Accusations Against R. Kelly in Full,' the Village Voice article features an interview with Chicago Sun-Times reporter Jim DeRogatis, who covered R. Kelly's trial since 2000.
DeRogatis blasts Kelly for being a pedophile who preys on young girls including singer Aaliyah, whom he married when she was only 14 years old. "I had Aaliyah's mother cry on my shoulder and say her daughter's life was ruined, Aaliyah's life was never the same after that," the journalist remembers.
The journalist also criticizes the media for letting R. Kelly off the hook -- although he was acquitted of all charges in 2008 -- and allowing the Chicago native to continue to make sexually explicit music.
Kelly brushed off the heat in an interview with V103's Big Tigger. “Well, I feel like I got the football, man, and I’m running towards the touchdown and if I stop and look back or mess around, I’ll get tackled,” he explained.
The crooner thanked his fans for their ongoing support and then promoted his new album, 'Black Panties.'
Last week, when Kellz was supposed to be celebrating his album release, he was hit with negative publicity after a Twitter chat he started with the hashtag '#AskRKelly' turned into a free-for-all from fans and critics to ask questions centered on his troubled past.
